I told myself I was just going to focus on fashion, thrifting and styling on the blog but sometimes it’s okay to switch it up a bit, right? Well today we’re going to talk about some of my current “favorites”. It’s something I may do regularly on the blog but for now, I’m just trying it out. So here goes…

I’m such a HUGE fan of music, all genres, and I listen to it all day everyday. I’m also a huge fan of inspirational sayings and quotes. Of course I love fashion, but I’m also a reality & DIY TV lover. I never catch a show when it actually comes on because I’m so busy. But on the weekends or during the mornings when I get ready is usually when I catch up on my shows. If you follow me on Twitter, you can catch me ranting about the women of the Real Housewives franchise (I watch them all), The Gossip Game on VHI and especially Basketball Wives. I don’t think me loving reality TV will even change, lol. It can sometimes be ratchet and a bit classless but hey, we all have our quilty pleasures. I’m also all about HGTV and TLC. I love a good home improvement show!

Spring Weddings, Prom Season & All White Parties

Springtime is perfect for parties, weddings and of course, proms! I remember going to my Jr. & Sr. Prom and fortunately finding a dress was no hassle. I purchased my Jr. Prom gown from White House Black Market and my Sr. Prom dress at David’s Bridal. Nowadays, girls want custom-made gowns with all the bells and whistles. I still think it’s OK if you play it safe and wear something classic and elegant, with a touch of your own personality. And as I’ve told a few young ladies, purchase a gown that you can wear again. There is NOTHING wrong with re-purposing a prom dress for a wedding, a pageant or any other classy affair. Below are two looks that are budget perfect, as well as on trend and fashionable!

Spring Weddings are also popular. Depending on the location of the wedding (in or outdoor), you can go with a nice cocktail-like dress or a flirty and flowy mini dress. If the wedding is in the evening and it’s indoors, the 1st look would be my choice. The black and white flowers are timeless and the sheer neckline is super sexy without showing too much. If the wedding is during the day and it’s outside, go for a pretty flowy dress. Going for a shorter dress is best because it just looks more “dressy”. Keep it simple with the accessories, and add a high heel, strappy sandal to finish off the look.

Now switching gears a bit. I love an all white party just like the next person. But being the mini-rebel that I am, I don’t see a problem with adding a splash of color to an all white look. A colorful purse or pair of shoes will do the trick! Or, you can look for accessories pieces that include gold/or silver hardware. For example, the Dorthy Perkins clutch below is white, but has gold hardware to give the bag an edgy/trendy look. You can also take a not form Kylie Jenner and do a chunky gold necklace and bracelet!

Wearing nude or white pumps is a perfect finishing touch. Halle Berry and Rihanna did so in the looks below. I love a pant suit as an option for an all white party or event. It’s super classic and chic, yet comfortable and stylish. The masculine pant details in a pant suit is so sexy to me. It screams, “Powerful Woman”. Idk…maybe that’s just me, LOL! Which pant suit would you prefer; Halle or Rihanna?

Lastly, wearing all white in a casual way is great for a day party. Dressing the look up with a fedora, vintage sun glasses and killer heels is the best way to go. The look below shows how to style those pieces. The look also shows how to style classic pieces such as a white t-shirt, a hat and a pair of black (sandal) heels. You can mix and match those pieces in MANY ways, which is yet another reason why it’s important to always have those “wardrobe essentials” in your closet.
So if you’re headed to the prom, a wedding, or an all white party, I’ve got you covered! I plan to keep all these looks in mind for summer; especially the casual white look. It’s my fave!

So, I came across this “50 Classics for your Closet” list on Pintrest and I was really intrigued. I’ve seen it before but never really read through each item. Since Spring has come, or so they say, I decided to take it upon myself to style some of the 50 pieces.

This weekend, I did a bit of Spring cleaning in my closet and drawers and I realized I have a lot of these items. I plan to use this list as I begin to get back into posting outfits as a way to show the different ways I style certain pieces! Until then, enjoy a few looks I’ve put together, as well as a few bloggers & celebs pics I came across. They’ve mastered “Styling Classic Pieces” and have inspired me to do the same.

Happy Friday!!!

Today’s post is simple and sweet. This weeks looks are from Rita Ora and the lovely 1st Lady, Michelle Obama. While these ladies are on the complete opposite ends of the style spectrum, the looks I went with are similar in that they’re simple and chic.

Rita is wearing all black and as any woman knows, black on black is the epitome of classic. I love how she wore the knee high boots with a longer skirt. Sometimes mini skirts and knee high boots can look a bit raunchy, for lack of a better word. Rita’s look was perfectly put together and she looks very nice. I went with ankle booties in my recreation just to give the outfit a different look.

Now onto Mrs. O. As always, she looks classy but her hair and the popped collar give the look a bit of an edge. This Alexander McQueen look was perfect for her because she’s tall and statuesque. I also like the tail on the back of the shirt; nice touch!

In my Polyvore look, I went with a balzer/jacket and the belt. I like a cinched waist! I noticed in Mrs. O’s look, she wore bronze shoes like the McQueen model. I wasn’t sure if I liked the bronze with the black and white. But once I created my Polyvore version, it worked well. The sandal I picked may have a higher heel than what the 1st lady would wear but for Polyvore, it’ll do.

Celeb Inspired Friday’s: 2013 Golden Globe Edition

Happy Friday, friends! As most of you all know, the 2013 Golden Globes aired last Sunday. While there were many highlights, like Anne Hathaway & Jody Foster’s speeches, or Django and Christoph Waltz snagging awards, I definitely enjoyed the FASHION and RED CARPET moments the most! I was tempted to do Polyvore creations for almost all of my favorite looks, lol, but I stuck with my top two looks, TV host Nancy O’Dell and actress Lucy Lui.

Nancy looked absolutely stunning in her electric blue gown! I loved the way it fit her body and I also liked the fact that she wore her hair up. The drop earrings were simple and just enough for the look as well. For my creation I went with the same color, just a shorter dress. Its something that I can see myself wearing if I were to step out on a red carpet. Now all I have to do is find me a red carpet!

Next up is Lucy Lui’s floral Carolina Herrera Pre-Fall 2013 ball gown. When she was on the red carpet and then stepped on the stage as a presenter, I wasn’t sold on the look. But once I took a second look, I began falling for the dress. It was a perfect fit for her. As a petite woman, she pulled off this look VERY well. She, like Nancy, went for minimal jewelry which was a huge plus. With a gown this busy, accessories should definitely be minimal. If I were to wear recreate this look for myself or a client, I would go with a shorter more practical version. The Polyvore look below gives off a 1950′s vibe, which I love! It’s super girly and flirty.

Happy Friday and welcome to the weekend! I’m ready to enjoy a few festivities with friends and my family and also catch up on some zzz’s. What are your plans?

Today’s post is all about the recent looks of Jill Scott and Beyonce. Both ladies are two of my favorite artists and I really love their styles. Jill and Bey are constantly mixing it up and they always step out looking amazing. Take a look at how I recreated their looks below!

With the Polyvore look, I didn’t go too off course with my recreation. I LOVE that Jill wore orange pumps; it gives the outfit a very edgy look and I love the pop of color. Jill looks great in this look from head to toe. Her legs look amazing, her hair is on point and she is just glowing!

I did a little something different with Bey’s look. I added a blue sweater because I thought it looked better with the blue pumps. I like Bey’s look, but if I were going to wear the outfit, I’d definitely go with a blue top. I love how she wore a short chunky gold necklace; very trendy!
