Happy Friday! With the weekend upon us, I am looking forward to lounging and relaxing I’ve been on the go for the past few weekends so this weekend is one of the few that I’ll be able to chill.

Speaking of relaxing, today’s outfit is super relaxed (for me). The weather has warmed up so I’ve been able to pull out some of my sandals. On this day, I opted for my Dad’s white button down and a pair of my favorite thrifted jeans.

I LOVE wearing men’s shirts with straight leg or skinny jeans. It’s super cute and a nice way to balance your look. It’s also a go to look when you want to be cute, yet comfy and practical. My fiance has often told me that he likes this look on me too. Of course he likes me to look femine and show off my curves. But I think it’s something about a woman wearing men’s wear that’s a bit sexy. ;-)

Speaking of my fiance, he has been taking my pictures ever since I’ve been blogging and lately, he’s really been capturing some awesome shots. I invested in a new (Nikon) camera a few weeks back and ever since then, he’s stepped his game up. Good job, boo! ;-)

So here we go…onto giveaway #2!! Today I have the pleasure of presenting to you a pair of gorgeous earrings from the lovely designer Alex of, House of Leigh. These “Tribe Called Quest” Earrings caught my eye as soon as I went to the site. I LOVE big earrings that make a statement so I just knew these would be perfect for this giveaway.

House of Leigh

2. What’s your hometown and where do you currently reside?

Cincinnati, Ohio

3. How long have you been in business?

House of Leigh will be celebrating its six month anniversary in December!

4. What products/items do you sell?

I started selling handmade jewelry & thrift items. I hope to phase into clothing by the New Year.

5. What was the inspiration to start this company?

House of Leigh was inspired by the people around me telling me to finally put my creative and entrepreneurial skills to use. Plus I was growing bored (I hate that word) with my life and I needed some extra cash :-)

6. How did you come up with the name, “House of Leigh”?

I chose the name House of Leigh for two reasons. The first reason being Leigh is my middle name. The second reason was to give myself a daily reminder of what I wanted my business to become. The traditional fashion house moniker is motivating. Currently, House of Leigh is about handmade jewelry pieces but eventually it will become a lifestyle brand. I wanted to have a name that could be an umbrella for many things, enabling the business to evolve as I do. Think…if Ralph Lauren was a black girl ;-)

7. Who or what do you go to for inspiration?

I gain inspiration from any and everything. Currently, I’m gaining a ton of inspiration from my customers. Collaborating with people to create custom pieces is really fun. People have so many amazing and creative ideas. I love bringing them to life!

8. Where do you see your business in 5 years?

I hope to see continued prosperity and creative growth for House of Leigh in the next five years…and maybe an employee or two. Doing this alone can be daunting.

9. Any words of wisdom or advice to those interested in starting their own business?

Do your research! Never stop being a student of your craft or your field, and network as much as possible!

A Few of My Favorite Things (Giveaway Closed)

Happy Wednesday & welcome to my very first giveaway! This is the 1st of 3 giveaways that I’ll have for the month of December so you’re all in for some GREAT surprises ahead!

My 1st giveaway includes a few of my favorite items. I’m always suggesting items to my friends and family so I wanted to share some goodies with you all, my blog friends! The items are listed below.

Gift #1: 2 Yankee Candle candles, Orange and Grapefruit. They’re from the Citrus Passion collection. I LOVE a good smelling candle and during the colder months, I’m always lighting candles. These two smell wonderful burning together and what I like about them most is that they aren’t too strong.

Gift #2:2 Sinful nail polishes, Mint Apple and Easy Going (very soft pink). While I don’t get my nails done or paint them as much as I’d like to, I recently gave myself a manicure using the Mint Apple color. It’s so pretty and soft and the Sinful polishes are super easy to apply yourself. The polishes also last for about a week 1/2 so no complaints here!

Gift #3:A mini can of Nivea (hand) Creme. I suffer from dry skin and I always keep lotion or some hand cream in my purse. Nivea’s hand cream is super soft and silky and I love the way my hands feel after using it. The mini can is great and super compact so you can carry it with you everywhere!

Gift #4: Elf eye shadow palate. I don’t wear much makeup but when I do, I go for the natural colors. This palate includes 6 colors that go with every skin tone and again it’s small size makes it easy to carry with you just about everywhere!

Gift #5: Small star earrings. I’m a love of accessories and jewelry as if you couldn’t tell ;-) These earrings are small and super girly! When I purchased these, I also bought a pair that are the same size but they’re in the shape of mini cameras–super cute!!
