Hey friends! I hope the weekend was good to ya. I spent mine volunteering with my little sis, attending an engagement party, and cleaning the house with the hubby. All in all, it was pretty good. This weekend I also sat down and really looked at my blog. I went through all my outfit posts, looked at my outfit choices, writing style, etc. I began to realize that I’m evolving into a woman that I really like. Everything from my style, my way of thinking, down to the way I react to situations has begun to change. I’ve talked about this before on the blog but I think the older we get, it’s important to evolve—staying the same is boring.
As far as my style, I see that I’m continuing to branch out and try different looks. I’m finding out what stores work for me, what colors compliment me, and what trends I can “get away with”, lol. It’s actually quite fun getting dressed now. I wasn’t one of those little girls who played dress up when I was young. I was more into sports, riding my bike, doing puzzles, and taking random day trips with my grandfather, lol. I played with dolls and girly things but I really didn’t get into the make-up and high heels thing until…well, lately lol. As I got a little older, I enjoyed dressing myself and mixing and matching certain items. I always had a certain style that worked for me but to see that style evolve is really amazing.
Being a style blogger can sometimes be tough. You see others wearing and trying trends and when you try it, it just doesn’t work out. It can be disheartening but I’ve learned to embrace my style. Personal style is just that—personal. Wearing what works for you is far more important than trying to keep up with the trends. I mean when you really think about it trends come and go anyway so in a way, you’ll always be playing catch up, lol. It’s OK not to look like every blogger out there. I think that’s why I love to thrift so much. It gives you an opportunity to find amazing items that everyone won’t have. It’s a chance to really be your self, style wise.
I say all this to say, stay true to who YOU are and do what’s best for YOU. Be yourself and the rest shall follow. Be blessed, enjoy the pics and I shall return Wednesday. XO!
