Today’s Wardrobe Wednesday post is dedicated to the Golden Globes! I’m always excited when award season rolls around. As a movie buff, music lover and self-proclaimed fashion enthusiast, this time of year is one of my favorites! From the red carpet and the acceptance speeches, I look forward to just about every award show. So of course, I have to share my top fashion (and hair) picks from the 2014 Golden Globes.
I must confess that I was a bit underwhelmed with some of the fashion choices. All the celebs were decked out, but these were the few looks that really stuck with me. Actress Lupita Nyong’o, star of 12 Years a Slave (winner for Best Picture) was absolutely radiant. The color of the gown against her flawless skin was breath taking – certainly best dressed in my eyes. Classic and simple, Resse Witherspoon displayed so much confidence and class in Calvin Klein Collection. The fit of the dress was superb and the simple jewelry was a great choice.
I saw that some people weren’t really feeling Jennifer Lawrence in Dior. On the contrary, I thought she looked very pretty. I immediately thought “sophisticated elegance” when I saw her in this gown. The edgy hair, makeup and accessories really brought the entire look together. Wrapping up my red carpet choices is the always elegant and stunning Angela Bassett. I mean what more can you say – she’s gorgeous! This dress, like the one Reese wore, was very simple yet had just the right amount of sparkle. She gave just enough sexy with the sheer plunging neckline.
When it comes to hair, it seems that most celebs went with sleek, chic, or edgy. I was all about the sleek and edgy! Hayden Panettiere’s slicked back her mid-length hair and I thought that was a great look. Robin Wright and Jennifer Lawrence went with the edgy short cuts – my fave! There’s something about a woman with short hair that I love. Which brings me to Lupita Nyong’o. The part in her hair set it off for me. I think it’s safe to say that style and hair-wise, she can do no wrong in my book, lol!
So who were some of your faves from the Golden Globes? Do you agree with my picks? Let me know! Until tomorrow, take care and be blessed.
P.S. I have to give an honorable mention to Diane Keaton. Her quirky and classic style has been a favorite of mine for years. No one can rock a tux or men’s suit like Diane! She’s the queen of androgynous fashion!
