If you know anything about me, you know that I have a LOVE for all things thrifted and vintage! So of course when I was invited to the Greater Washington’s Goodwill Gala, it was a no brainier – I was going! After last years amazing runway show and popup shop, I knew this year would be just as enjoyable!
Well I was exactly right. The show, full of glitz and glam, was fantastic from start to finish. In keeping with the The Art of Fashion theme (hence the comic book artwork pic above), the luxurious and sequined outfits that pranced the runway were a perfect fit! If I wasn’t an avid thrifter I’d be doubtful that such amazing pieces came from the Goodwill. Just looking at the shots below, would YOU think the items were secondhand?
There were luscious golds, metallics and silvers, beads, sequins and furs…I was just in vintage heaven! I felt the looks were perfect for the upcoming holiday season. The gold sequin mini-dress (pictured below) would be ideal for a Christmas party or gathering. And let’s not forget about the hair and make-up. Both were impeccable – the bouffant and flip hairstyles fit the vintage clothing and theme perfectly!
Not only were the fashion show outfits enjoyable, but the stylish spectators were a joy to look at as well! I was particularity smitten with one attendee. She wore a black and white, vintage inspired fascinator. I had to stop her and snap a pic. Don’t you just love it??!! I think I need to find one!
Catherine Meloy, the CEO of Goodwill of Greater Washington, looked fantastic in her mini dress! Whenever I see Catherine, she’s always dressed chicly fab. Yes, I made up that term, lol! Last year, she wore a black and lace vintage dress. This year, Catherine went for the glam and the sequins. I love them both but I have to say this years look is my favorite of the two. I also loved Lisa’s pink, vintage inspired dress. The dramatic collar and the color had me at hello!
It was also great to enjoy the show with my blogger buddy Vivi (Heart, Print, Style). We always have a good time trotting around in DC. I wish I had a pic of our outfits because were were both rather cute that night, if I do say so myself. 😉 But there were some camera issues on my part so, yea…no outfit pics of us this time around. All in all, the show was a success and I was happy to apart of such a wonderful event. Fashion and a good cause always makes for a fun event! I can’t wait to see what next year has in store.
