Wrapped Perfectly

Happy Friday, friends!! As I sit here typing, I can only breathe out of one nostril and and my throat is super itchy. Hello, Spring! Lol. As much as I look forward to this time of year, I can’t stand the affect it has on my allergies/sinuses. But hey, at least it’s the weekend, right??

Let’s move on to today’s post, shall we? I’ve never been a huge fan of wrap dresses. However when I found this one, I was a believer. I walked into Ross to look for a few things and there it was…hidden in between a size 12 and a size 6. Neither of those sizes are mine, but something told me to grab the dress from the rack and look. You know how it is when you’re shopping from the clearance racks!

The colors were perfect and the fit, even more perfect! Did I mention the price was $9.99??? Can’t beat that! I paired it with nude pumps, gold accessories and just like that the wrap dress was brought to life. My mom saw me in the dress and complimented my curves. I must say that wearing (appropriate) fitted clothing does something to me. When the curves are displayed and everything is in place, you can’t tell her nothing! Her meaning me, she, I! (in my Tamar Braxton voice, LOL)

So what about you? What are your thoughts on wrap dresses? And what piece of clothing or style makes you feel super confident? Let me know! Until next time, be blessed!

I Did it My Way

So this year’s MTV awards has come and gone and to be honest, I didn’t really pay much attention to the actual show/performances. I was more focused on who wore what on the carpet, LOL! Am I the only one??

Anywho, some of my favorites were Kerry Washington, Kylie Jenner and Kim. K. My ultimate favorite however was Melissa McCarthy. I absolutely LOVED her black jumpsuit. She really stepped it up from the jewelry to her shoes! Melissa wore a Melissa McCarthy Design (c/o Daniela Kurrle) jumpsuit along with a Devi Kroell clutch. Her makeup was ON POINT, as was her hair. She was just on 100%!

Of course, I decided to take it upon myself to recreate her fabulous look. Below are two ways one can wear a black jumpsuit; dressy and casual. I LOVE the shoes in the “Splurge” look and I’m completely smitten with the necklace in the “Budget” look. Can you believe the $20 jumpsuit is from Walmart ?!! Don’t sleep on Walmart.  ;-)
The last look, I literally created myself. The jumpsuit is super comfy and I love the way it hugs my curves. I’m definitely a believer that a one piece is a curvy girls best friend. ;-) Of course I had to jazz my outfit up with some of my favorite thrifted items, as well as a few favorite vintage items from my shop, Nic’s Picks. (Links will be provided below).

Blue Monday

Happy Monday! How was the weekend? Mine was relaxing, as planned. I did a little thrifting and I’m in the process of making a video to showcase some of my finds. This will be my 3rd thrift haul. Whoo-hoo!!! Be sure to follow on YouTube and check out my other hauls.

Today’s outfit was inspired by the warm weather. The color and the “flowyness” of the dress makes me feel very lady-like and pretty. I adorned my neck with my thrifted necklace and added a cute pair of sandals. Easy breezy!

I also love my hair right now. When I first get this style, it’s a little uneasy for me to style my hair or put it up in a ponytail/bun. However this time around, my hair has been super cooperative! I can part it, sweep it to the side, put it up…I’m a happy girl! My kinky twits also make my morning a lot easier. I don’t have to comb, flat iron and worry about it blowing all over the place or sweating out when I step outside. I love the minimal and low maintenance this style allows. That’s yet another thing that makes me happy. Oh, the little things! ;-)

Happy Friday! With the weekend upon us, I am looking forward to lounging and relaxing I’ve been on the go for the past few weekends so this weekend is one of the few that I’ll be able to chill.

Speaking of relaxing, today’s outfit is super relaxed (for me). The weather has warmed up so I’ve been able to pull out some of my sandals. On this day, I opted for my Dad’s white button down and a pair of my favorite thrifted jeans.

I LOVE wearing men’s shirts with straight leg or skinny jeans. It’s super cute and a nice way to balance your look. It’s also a go to look when you want to be cute, yet comfy and practical. My fiance has often told me that he likes this look on me too. Of course he likes me to look femine and show off my curves. But I think it’s something about a woman wearing men’s wear that’s a bit sexy. ;-)

Speaking of my fiance, he has been taking my pictures ever since I’ve been blogging and lately, he’s really been capturing some awesome shots. I invested in a new (Nikon) camera a few weeks back and ever since then, he’s stepped his game up. Good job, boo! ;-)

So tell me, what look do you go for when you want to achieve comfort & cutness? Do you think men’s wear on women is sexy? Let me know! Enjoy the weekend and the warm weather. Talk to you soon and be blessed! XO

A Few Things I Know for Sure

Tags

, ,

As promised, I’m back to blogging now that it’s April! I’ve missed being in front of the camera, kind of, LOL. But more importantly I’ve missed connecting with you, my readers. So after taking a slight break from posting, I’m back! I’m refreshed and I’m focused.

Today’s post is rather short and sweet. However I want to share my outfit, as well as somethings I’ve “re-learned” over the past few months. (1) Life is what you make it, (2) life is too short to put your dreams on hold, and (3) if you have faith in God, you can never go wrong. I’m not here to preach to you but I feel compelled to let everyone know those three things that I know for sure. (Yes, I got that phrase from Oprah). Sometimes we get so caught up with “life” that we forget the things we already know. Everyone needs to be reminded of certain things here and there and recently I’ve been reminded of these.

With that being said, I hope you enjoy my look and thanks for sticking around. ;-) Have a wonderful day & be blessed!

Hey there! As I sit here and type away, I realize that I should be packing for my weekend trip. I’m leaving for the Bahamas tomorrow morning and I have packed absolutely NOTHING. LOL! I usually pack a few days ahead of time but not this time. At least I have my outfits planned so 1/2 the work is already done. ;-)

Before I go, I wanted to give you all a Nic’s Picks update. I’ve been working on somethings as far as my online shop and I’ve recently added some new items. These items, all different sizes, are perfect for a Spring wardrobe, as well as for Special Occasions. If you like what you see, head over to Nic’s Picks for more info. Styling Classic Wardrobe Pieces

So, I came across this “50 Classics for your Closet” list on Pintrest and I was really intrigued. I’ve seen it before but never really read through each item. Since Spring has come, or so they say, I decided to take it upon myself to style some of the 50 pieces.

cwp4

This weekend, I did a bit of Spring cleaning in my closet and drawers and I realized I have a lot of these items. I plan to use this list as I begin to get back into posting outfits as a way to show the different ways I style certain pieces! Until then, enjoy a few looks I’ve put together, as well as a few bloggers & celebs pics I came across. They’ve mastered “Styling Classic Pieces” and have inspired me to do the same.

Enjoy, be blessed and I’ll talk to you soon. XO!

Guest Blogger: Amberly’s Budget Friendly Spring Decor Ideas!

Tags

Hey everyone! It’s Amberly from A Slice of Glam here again!  This time I’m sharing with you all some tips on how to decorate your home for Spring!  Decorating for Spring does not have to break the bank.  You can add simple little inexpensive elements to bring in that feeling of fresh and new on a budget.  Here are some easy ways you can do that.

sliceofglam

1. Add fresh flowers – Pick up your favorite flowers from your local grocery store or farmer’s market.  Get creative and mix different flowers and colors to create a colorful bouquet for your dining table or coffee table.

2. Throw pillows – You can either pick up some fabric from a hobby store and recover some old pillows, so go somewhere like IKEA or Target to find some fabulous pillows.  Pick colors that still go with the decorating theme that you already have, but choose a shade lighter.  For example if you have dark green as your color already, choose emerald (color of the year!) or mint.

spring decorating

 3. DIY wreath – Pick a few pastel color artificial flowers and a ribbon in a fun print like gingham or paisley to tie around the wreath.  Add to your front door or patio!

4. Greenery – Don’t have a green thumb?  Purchase a few succulents and place them in the window of your kitchen or on your coffee table to add some freshness to your home!

Thanks so much, Amberly! It’s always nice to get decorating tips from this blogger. She’s super creative & stylish and has guest posted for me before. (see post HERE) If you decide to incorperate any of these tips in your Spring decorating, please send pics!! We’d love to see and share them! XO!

Hello, friends & welcome to another week!

This week it is my pleasure to feature a blogger who knows how to look fly and fashionable, while on a budget. I’m always intrigued by fashion/style bloggers who can look fashionable without breaking the bank, hence the reason I love to thrift so much. Read the interview below and get to know Ms. Frugal, Flirty & Fab herself, Deidre. She has quickly become one of my favorite bloggers and I just LOVE her feminine sexy and fashion-forward style! Enjoy!
