Personal Style Monday | On Trend Wearing Sneakers and Dresses

Happy Monday and happy June! Yes…it’s June already. I still can’t believe it. As quick as June came, I can’t say I’m not happy. I’m really ready for some warm weather, swimming, trips to the beach and cookouts. :-) Speaking of summertime excitement, I’m also excited to try out some summer trends like the one I’m wearing in today’s OOTD – sneakers and dresses.

Lately I’ve noticed the sneakers and dresses trend emerging. While I’m no stranger to this trend, I haven’t actually worn sneakers and dresses in a while. My favorite way to do so is when I’m wearing converses. Something about converses and a maxi dress make me feel ultra chic and relaxed. With today’s look I wanted to try something a bit more fun so, I paired this colorful skater dress with my new Puma’s. This look is 1 of 3 ways I plan to wear the dress this week on the blog.

Now you may be asking, where would I wear something like this? Well I can think of 4 occasions where the sneakers and dresses trend works; (1) a cute dinner & movie date, (2) an outdoor summer concert, (3) a family/friends summer cookout, and (4) a day of sightseeing while on summer vacation.

This trend can work for any and everyone. If you don’t want to wear a short dress like this one, try this trend with a maxi skirt. I LOVE how image and style consultant Tieko wears her sneakers with maxi skirts. I actually featured her lok on the blog back in January. Wearing sneakers with midi dresses is also an option. Folake, the always stylish blogger behind Style Pantry, styles this trend effortlessly.

I had A LOT of fun with this look and although it maybe a lot going on with the outfit, I love it! I’m all about pattern play and mixing an matching. Yes, there are certain “rules” I like to follow when wearing patterns and prints, but this look is the perfect example of how to mix prints in a fun and personal way. I stayed true to my personal style, had fun, and managed to look rather cute doing so, if I do say so my self. ;-) When it comes down to it, have fun while exploring your personal style. Take a chance every now and then.

Speaking of having fun with your personal style, take a look at Brittany’s fun and stylish OOTD from last weeks linkup. From the head scarf to the tank top to the acid wash skirt, she’s definitely knows how to have fun with her style! Brittany wore this look to an outdoor event and I think it was the perfect choice, especially since she was surrounded by other bloggers during the event. Go Brittany! :-)

So what’s your take on the sneakers and dresses trend? Have you tried it before? Let me know!

Now it’s your turn to show off your personal style. Link up your recent OOTD pots(s) below - you just may be my favorite pick for next week. Just be sure to link your outfit back to this post. Also, visit the other bloggers who’ve linked up and say hey.

Thanks for participating and as always, thanks for reading. Don’t forget, I’ll be styling this same dress 2 more times this week on the blog. At the end of the week, you’ll be able to vote for your favorite look! :-) Until tomorrow, be blessed and stay safe…XO!

You know Whitney, I have to be honest – I’m not a huge fan of the sneaker and dress look. However, I don’t mind seeing certain casual dresses with a more simple shoe like a low-top Chuck or Keds. But, the more athletic sneaker just doesn’t do anything for me.

Still not on the sneakers with dresses wagon. I do admire those that try the trend but it ain’t for me. However, I’m still loving the sporty trend.

I see you with the mixed prints! You know how I love mixing patterns. Cute shoes, too. Never would’ve guessed it’s from the men’s section.
