Personal Style Monday – Fall Sweaters & the Simply Be Jacket

Happy Monday! Not sure about you but with the temperatures dropping, I had to pull out a few fall sweaters and jackets this weekend. In today’s OOTD, I’m actually showing off another one of my favorite (thrifted) fall sweaters. I’ve had this sweater for years and every time I wear it I think of Christmastime, lol. It’s nice and cozy, super soft but doesn’t take well to ironing (ugh). Nonetheless, I wear the heck out of it during the fall and winter. I mean, what’s not to love about a big comfy green sweater?!

Fall Sweaters - Simply Be Jacket

I also pulled out my Simply Be jacket this weekend. This jacket, faux leather detailing and all, is another piece I wear A LOT during the fall and winter. I won this beauty a few years ago from a Love Brown Sugar giveaway. It’s a staple item in my wardrobe and it’s such a classic. I like that I’m able wear a big sweater, like this green one, under the jacket without feeling stuffed. Talk about an uncomfortable feeling. There’s nothing worse than feeling stuffed and stiff in a jacket/coat!

Going back to the green sweater for a minute – can you imagine the endless ways you can style it? I can wear this sweater to work by styling it the way I did above, and still be professional and stylish. I can pair the sweater with my favorite denim pants and some funky heels (or boots) for a more chic look. I can also go super casual and throw on some leggings, sneakers and obnoxious jewelry for a fun OOTD. Clearly, there are several styling options. Be on the look out for some more fall and winter looks ft. “The Green Sweater”.

In keeping with the fall OOTD theme, I have to give my blogging buddy Antionette a shout out. Her outfit from last week’s linkup was one of my faves. I’m all about the fabulous pattern mixing and I love slouchy neck striped top. It’s a classic top and it can probably be worn year round. Pairing it with a long maxi and leopard flats is perfect for early-mid fall. I love it, Antionette!

Personal Style Monday – More (Plus Size) Fall Fashion for the Workplace

Hello and welcome to another week! Today, I want to talk more fall fashion for the workplace. When it comes to dressing for work, I’m a fan of sheath and tunic-style dresses. So when I found this Jessica London beauty, I was thrilled! I spotted the dress a few weeks ago while thrifting. The vibrant orange color caught my eye as I stood in line for the cashier. I told hubby to grab it so I could see what it really looked like. Once I viewed the entire masterpiece, I knew it was coming home with me! Although it’s a size smaller than I normally wear, I was so sure it’d fit I just went ahead and bought it. After saying a little prayer, I tried it on when I got home and what do you know? It was a perfect fit! ;-)

Fall Fashion for Work - Plus Size Fashion

So, why is this a perfect option for fall fashion for the workplace?  I have 5 reasons.

1. The print is fun, yet not too overpowering for the 9-5.

2. The length is “workplace appropriate”.

3. The dress can easily be worn with tights and boots, once it gets a little cooler outside.

4. It’s the perfect dress to style from day to night. Add  a pair of heels and you’re ready for an after work date!

5. The material is functional and non-restrictive.

When shopping for fall workplace dresses, my #1 concern is comfort. I don’t mind being cute for work. I mean, who doesn’t? But I must be both cute and comfortable when wearing dresses to work. I’m not talking sweatpants and a t-shirt comfy. I mean purchasing dresses with movement and dresses made with certain material. Often times I’m out and about, running work related errands or traveling to different work related locations. A lightweight dress like this one that literally moves with me is perfect.

Fashionably Employed - Feature

Last week, I featured Jen of Fashionably Employed as my October Thrifty Friend. She also linked up to my style link up last Monday, and I immediately thought of her when I knew I’d be talking about fall fashion for the workplace. Her OOTD choices for work are not only stylish and cute, but their practical and functional!

Perfect for a Rainy Day

Hey, darlings! These past few days have been super dreary and rainy and on days like that, I hate thinking about what to wear. Because I knew I was going to spend some time with the boo, I wanted to look 1/2 way decent, lol! So I figured an over-sized sweater, a dash of leopard print, and putting my hair up would do the trick.;-)

I’ve had this leopard wrap for ages and it’s SO perfect for me because as I’ve mentioned before, I don’t always like wearing heavy jackets/coats. I also wore another favorite item which is the tan Micheal Kors sweater. It’s so cozy, soft and the cow-neck collar is the best.

My jewelry, jeggings and shoes were all thrifted! I’ve actually never worn these shoes on the blog. I found them at 2nd Avenue (Columbia, MD) for about $5. I looked at the bottom of the shoes before deciding to purchase them and they weren’t even touched! There they were…never worn Nine West flats for $5. Score!! ;-)

Enjoy the pics. Be blessed…XO!
