Februrary’s Personal Style Recap

Hello and happy Personal Style Monday! I’m coming down from a very busy and exciting pageant weekend. Yes, pageant season is in full swing and this weekend I was honored to severe as one of the judges for the International Junior Miss Maryland, DC & Virginia sate pageant. Getting to know several beautiful, motivated and intelligent young ladies was such a treat! I also had the chance to reconnect with some of my pageant family, as well as get to know many new faces. My family was there too so all in all, is was a very enjoyable weekend!

Moving onto today’s post, I wanted to do a brief recap of my February outfits. Needless to say, the weather has been stuck on freezing for several weeks so I wasn’t able to snap or post as many looks as I planned. However, I did enjoy the looks I did share!

I stepped outside of the box when I wore my sheer maxi skirt and I absolutely LOVED that I went for it! The skirt has become one of my favorite wardrobe pieces – there are so many ways I can wear it, while showcasing my personal style. I also enjoyed wearing a little color this month. Form the thrifted red pants  to the blue thrifted Janet Jackson inspired jacket, color was indeed present!

Of course I had to bring out the thrifted cape and show off my thrifted menswear stlye. I also stayed true to my casual and chic personal style when I dressed for the snowy weather. My thrifty grey ensemble kept me warm and stylish! 😉

So tell me, what was your favorite look from February? Were you a fan of the sheer skirt or the thrifted menswear? Let me know!

Also, don’t forget to linkup your outfits below – I enjoy checking out your personal style! All I ask is that you link your outfit back to this post and don’t forget to visit other bloggers too!
Until tomorrow, be blessed and stay safe…XO!

Thrifted Curves – Red & Black Winter Coat

It’s no secret that the weather has been pretty much freezing cold lately. I for one am not thrilled but reluctantly, I’m coping with it. With temps barley reaching 12 degrees, it’s more than perfect timing for my trusty winter coat! Not one to wear heavy coats, my body’s been telling me otherwise lately. I have an annoying couch that won’t go away and who knew one person could blow their nose so many times in one day. But I digress – let’s get back to this amazing coat.

Coat: Village Thrift, $5.90// Clutch: Village Thrift, $3.90// Flats: Mossimo Brand (Village Thrift), $4.90

When it comes to my plus size thrift fashion, it’s safe to say that I have thrifted more outerwear, blazers and jewelry than anything else. As a plus size thrifter, it’s easier (for me) to track down the perfect coat than most articles of clothing. When I saw this bright red beauty, I knew 1 of 2 things – I’d keep it for myself or my mom would somehow swindle it from me, lol. A few days after I purchased it, my mom came over, tried it on and the swindling began, LOL!

There were no hard feeling because we always “borrow back” from one another. But this time, she ended up wearing the coat only a few times then gave it back to me…to keep. How nice, right?! I guess she got her wear out of it…haha! Nonetheless, I’m glad to say that this cozy and comfy red coat is now all mine. It’s perfect too because I often wear a lot of layers . Unlike most coats, this one doesn’t bunch up in the arms and it doesn’t have me breaking out into a sweat in the dead of winter. That’s never cute.

So how’s the weather in your area? Are you bundled up or do you have the pleasure of wearing a “light jacket” when you go out? Also if you’re a thrifter, what items do you find most often? Let me know! Wherever you are and whatever temperatures you’re faced with, be blessed & be safe…XO!

The 8th Day of “Thriftmas” – Red and Leopard Print

The 8th Day of “Thriftmas” is here and I’m excited to share some more of my purchases from my thrifting tour! I put this look together and thought, how perfect would this look be for a holiday party? I mean the red pants scream festive and the pops of gold really add something special to the outfit. Of course, adding leopard is always a necessary. 😉  There’s nothing like a great red and leopard print OOTD this time of year  right? :-) All in all, this look shows off my personal style from head to toe!

Top: Thrifted, $3.00 (B-Thrifty in Woodbridge, VA)// Pants: Jones NY, $5.00 (B-thrifty in Woodbridge, VA)// Coat: Andrea Marin, $6.45 (2nd Avenue in Columbia, MD)// Necklace: Thrifted, 2nd Avenue// Purse: Vintage, Nic’s Picks

When I saw these pants at the B-thrifty  in Virginia, I squealed! After a weeks and months of looking for the perfect red pair of colorful pants, it was a relief to find these Jones New York pair hanging on the rack. I snagged them for $5.00 – sweet deal! I was also due for a new leopard print blouse. The one I usually wear has been through the wire and the wash one too many times. So this $3.00 blouse was the perfect replacement. Let the hubby tell it, I don’t need another thing that’s animal print. 😉 But I knew I wanted to wear a red and leopard print outfit this season so, I had to get the blouse.

When it comes to the black velvet coat, I splurged and paid about $7 for it, lol. 😉 It’s a lightweight coat with one button and it’s suitable for someone like me who doesn’t always like to wear heavy outwear. Even when it’s blistering cold out, the thought of bulky and puff coats makes me sweat. This velvet number puts my mind at ease. I can slide it on, add a scarf and keep it moving.

I’ve had the necklace for awhile now so I added it to this outfit because I thought it complimented the purse well. This purse has been in my collection for sometime and I even thought about adding it to my shop. But something told me to hold on to it just a little longer. Glad I did. 😉

Needless to say, I love all the garments I purchased! Each item is an investment piece and that’s something I focused on while on the thrifting around. Do you have any favorite items from this look? Are you into the red, festive pants? What about red and leopard print – are you a fan of that combo? Let me know! And don’t forget to show off your personal style by linking up below. All I ask is that you link your post back to this one, or add the badge to whichever post(s) you linkup.  There’s no limit to how many outfits you can link so, show me what you got! TTYS….XO!

On Trend – Fall Preview

It’s Friday!!! 😉 Even though it was a short week for me, I’m still happy that today is Friday. I LOVE weekends! I really love weekends during the Fall. The crisp air, pretty leaves, lattes and hot cocoa…so perfect. But let’s not forget about the Fall Fashion—that’s pretty awesome too, right??!!

This season, I am really excited about boots, leather and dark polish! I also can’t wait to wear my chunky sweaters and over-sized bags. Speaking of bags, I do something every season and I want to know if I’m the only one. I switch my wallet to fit each season. Do you? I actually got this from my mom. She always makes sure she has a wallet for every season and I love that! It’s fashion forward and it’s a little detail that makes difference.

These are just some ideas that I have as far as my Fall wardrobe goes. What’s going to be in your closet this Fall? Are there any colors that you can’t wait to wear? I’m really feeling plum and burgundy. Let me know! Have a great weekend and be blessed!

A Bit Animalistic: Styling my Asos Curve Leopard Print Dress

Happy Friday!!! Today’s post features an outfit of me wearing one of my favorite prints…leopard!! I purchased this dress almost a year ago from Asos Curve. It’s one of my first purchases form them and I was pleasantly surprised at how perfect the fit was. Unfortunately, I kept it hanging in the closet, packed it when I moved in with the hubby, hung it up in the new closet, and still didn’t wear it. One day I glanced at the dress and said, “It’s time to wear the dress.”

Dress: Asos Curve (no longer available)//Shoes: Marc Fischer (old)//Purse: Bakers (old)//Chain Necklace: Thrifted (2nd Avenue)//Earrings: H&M (Similar, HERE)

DSC_1036Have you ever kept a certain item hanging and then one day you just know it’s the perfect time to wear it? Well, yea…that’s pretty much what happen. This dress made its debut during date night—perfect timing!

Every once in awhile, I like to show off the curves. I mean if you gottem, you might as well flaunt them right??!! All joking aside, this dress is very comfortable and I feel extra confident wearing it. I love clothes that give you that extra something; clothes that make you switch just a tad bit more when you’re walking. 😉DSC_1037

I’d love to add a link to this amazing dress but because it’s no longer available, I can’t. However, I have two looks below that feature leopard dresses. While the styles and prints are a bit different than mine, they’re just as fabulous. Take a look below and feel free to click the picture for more info. All items are under $100!

Well, that’s all for now. Enjoy your weekend, be blessed and check back Monday for my next Thrifty Friend feature. XO!

Celeb Style – Reese & Rihanna

Happy Friday, good people! :-) Today’s looks of the day are from Reese & Rihanna. Both looks are casual and I had fun recreating them! Let’s get right to it!

I’m a huge fan of the look Reese wore. It’s classic and simple and it instantly reminded me of an outfit my blogger buddy Simply Chic would wear. The jeans are a perfect fit and the cuff gives the look a bit more of a relaxed feel. I like how Reese accessorized with chunky gold jewelry and of course, I LOVE that Louis Vuitton tote/purse. As a hip Hollywood Mom, Reese nailed this look. 080813-reese-witherspoon-350In my creation, I added a flowy blue top, to give the look an ultra feminine touch, and went with a leopard print Asos tote. The Jessica Simpson pumps are a pure classic and of course, red heels are a MUST have for every woman’s closet. I can see someone wearing this outfit on the weekend to do some shopping, grab a bite to eat with friends, or even jet setting!

Rihanna is wearing her River Island Autumn 2013 Collection, shoes too, (miuns the Chanel hat) in this photo.

Lets move on to Rihanna’s trendy threads. While this is not a look I  may not wear, I do love the idea of the outfit. Rihanna can pretty much get away with wearing anything though, right? 😉 I’m feeling the cropped camo top she sported. Crop tops are the “in thing” now so, she is right on trend with this look. The camo Steve Madden heels give this boyish look a nice touch of “sexy”.
In my creation, I paired the River Island denim pants with a basic v-neck camo t-shirt—no crop tops over here, LOL! I found a similar pair of Steve Madden shoes  and added them to mine. Basic gold accessories and a red lip were the last additions. What do you think—would YOU rock this Rih-Rih inspired look?

c600x412Well, that’s all for today’s Look of the Week post. Which was your favorite? Let me know! Have a good day & be blessed!

Red, White, & Leopard

Happy Hump Day! I’ve been a tad busy lately with “life stuff” (LOL) so I’m going to keep today’s post short and simple.

I thrifted this top a while ago and I LOVE the fit. It’s not too small, nor too big and I feel really comfortable wearing it. It reminds me of an “almost crop top”, LOL. These jeans are a favorite thrift find. No matter how many times I wash and dry them, they still fit me like a glove!

Enjoy the pics and be blessed! TTYS!
