Personal Style Monday – Fall Sweaters & the Simply Be Jacket

Happy Monday! Not sure about you but with the temperatures dropping, I had to pull out a few fall sweaters and jackets this weekend. In today’s OOTD, I’m actually showing off another one of my favorite (thrifted) fall sweaters. I’ve had this sweater for years and every time I wear it I think of Christmastime, lol. It’s nice and cozy, super soft but doesn’t take well to ironing (ugh). Nonetheless, I wear the heck out of it during the fall and winter. I mean, what’s not to love about a big comfy green sweater?!

Fall Sweaters - Simply Be Jacket

I also pulled out my Simply Be jacket this weekend. This jacket, faux leather detailing and all, is another piece I wear A LOT during the fall and winter. I won this beauty a few years ago from a Love Brown Sugar giveaway. It’s a staple item in my wardrobe and it’s such a classic. I like that I’m able wear a big sweater, like this green one, under the jacket without feeling stuffed. Talk about an uncomfortable feeling. There’s nothing worse than feeling stuffed and stiff in a jacket/coat!

Going back to the green sweater for a minute – can you imagine the endless ways you can style it? I can wear this sweater to work by styling it the way I did above, and still be professional and stylish. I can pair the sweater with my favorite denim pants and some funky heels (or boots) for a more chic look. I can also go super casual and throw on some leggings, sneakers and obnoxious jewelry for a fun OOTD. Clearly, there are several styling options. Be on the look out for some more fall and winter looks ft. “The Green Sweater”.

In keeping with the fall OOTD theme, I have to give my blogging buddy Antionette a shout out. Her outfit from last week’s linkup was one of my faves. I’m all about the fabulous pattern mixing and I love slouchy neck striped top. It’s a classic top and it can probably be worn year round. Pairing it with a long maxi and leopard flats is perfect for early-mid fall. I love it, Antionette!

Valentine’s Day: Casual & Fancy

Welcome to another Friday loves! I hope you’re all ready to relax and enjoy this weekend.

Today’s post is all about Valentine’s Day! I for one am excited for this day to come because not only do I get to spend some time with my babe, but it’s my Mommy’s birthday AND my parents wedding anniversary! WHEW….a lot to celebrate, huh? Well, my parents always go on vacation for a week (my Dad’s birthday is Feb. 12th) so when they get back from Jamaica, we’ll be able to celebrate with them.

In the meantime, checkout my Valentine’s Day looks. If you’re looking to be more casual for a “day date”, a day trip or even a lunch with your girls, look number 1 is for you! It’s comfy, stylish and still has that “love” feeling, thanks to the hearts on the sweater.

Look number 2 is sexy and chic and will definitely make your date do a double take. I love the pink/fuchsia dresses because they’re form fitting and they have ruffles. I decided to go with pink because it’s so soft and girly. The accessories also make a subtle yet noticeable statement. As I’ve said several times on the blog, I LOVE studs and with dresses like this, I can see someone wearing an up-do and the perfect pair.

So tell me, do you have any plans for Valentine’s Day? If so, which look fits those plans? I’d love to hear! I hope you enjoy the weekend. Until next time, be blessed…XO!

A Casual Christmas & NYE Glamour

Happy Friday loves!! I hope you’ve had a wonderful week and I hope everyone is ready for the holidays! Do you have any special plans for Christmas? Well, every year my family goes to dinner on Christmas Eve and we have a ball. I usually opt for a casual look. The two looks below would be perfect for a family dinner. I love wearing big sweaters during the wintertime so these looks scream, “Whitney!”  Which is your fave?

When it comes to NYE, I’ve never been one to hit up the club or party. I usually spend it at home, in church, or at dinner. However, I do love the idea of getting glammed up to go out on the town to celebrate the New Year. I envision that when the hubby-to-be and I spend our first NYE as a married couple, we’ll go out to some fancy restaurant, just because, and enjoy a lovely dinner and then spend the rest of the evening cuddling and chilling by the fireplace. Sounds nice, huh? Well take a look at two outfits I’ve created for a glamours NYE outing.
