::Weekend Recap:: Family Affair

Hey there…happy Monday! I hope you enjoyed your weekend. Mine was filled with family so you know I had a great one! :-)  Saturday we all headed to Baltimore to watch my grandmother receive an award for being one of the top educators in the city. With over 30 years of experience, my grandmother has worked tirelessly to educate the youth of Baltimore and I am so proud of her. From teacher, to principal, to associate superintendent, this lady is truly an inspiration.

My Lovely Grandma!

There were several other honorees, including my Godmother and an administrator from my high school. To be in a room full of education legends was very uplifting! I’ve always admired educators – they have the  huge task of shaping the  minds of the future and it’s not easy. I remember being a teacher’s aid and substitute for about 4 years. I loved interacting with the children and it was extremely rewarding. Knowing that I was responsible for them for several hours of the day was a bit scary – I can only imagine what teachers feel on a day-to-day basis. It’s a big responsibility and it makes me very grateful for the influential teachers I’ve had in my life.

Lil Sis, Mama, Mommy & Me :-)

All in all, the event was a success and I’m SO proud of my MaMa (that’s what I call my grandmother). As always, it was great spending time with my mom, sister, dad and hubby. Whenever I’m around my family, all is right with the world!

I hope your weekend was just as enjoyable. TTYS & be blessed! :-)

      :-) Thank you!! And I agree. It is one of the most under appreciated professions. Glad there are events like this to let them know we appreciate them!
